Donald served in the Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller, and was stationed in England where he developed his life-long love of London and travel. He met and married his beloved wife Catherine on Long Island, where they lived with their daughter Amy before moving to Maine, Massachusetts and Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
Don retired from Aetna as a Marketing Manager. He and Cathy enjoyed a retirement filled with travel, friends, and adventures with their much adored grandchildren, Quinlan and Sean. Donald also was skilled at carpentry and crafting both fine furniture and decorative objects from wood. During their lives Don and Cathy restored a historic 1789 farmhouse in Maine, as well as a brick rowhouse in Massachusetts where they ran a bed and breakfast together for a few years.
To keep busy in retirement Don worked for the TSA and in the paint department at Home Depot where he was happy to provide expert advice. In his later years he enjoyed life in Texas close to his daughter and as a devoted "G'Pa" to his grandsons, meeting new friends and being part of the Blue Candlelight Music Series extended family.
Donald is survived by; daughter Amy Catherine Facey; and son-in-law Dale T Facey; grandson Quinlan Donald Facey and grandson Sean Thomas Facey.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife Catherine Heft; mother Anna Hazel Heft and father William Heft.

Entombment will occur at St. Francis by the Sea in Hilton Head, where he will rest with Catherine.
