

He was born December 18, 1931, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Don was raised in Clearfield, PA and later married Diane Fagan of Erie, PA. Don served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1950-1954, serving 3 tours aboard the USS Henry W. Tucker DDR875. He attended Penn State University, where he received an Associate Degree in Engineering. He later earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City, SD. Among his numerous career accomplishments, Don worked on the Davy Crockett Weapons System, a tactical nuclear warhead that remains the smallest nuclear weapon system ever built, and was instrumental in the implementation and conception of the Titan Missile Hydraulic system. Don lived in PA, NM, SD, MI, OH, TX, GA, TN, FL and HI. Don loved camping, beagles, the great outdoors, travel, county music, his leprechaun Shawn, wrestling, a ripe tomato, a good hot dog, and a cold Rolling Rock beer. Don was a Master Bridge player, proud and stubborn Irishman, and a knowledgeable stock enthusiast.
Don is survived by his son Steven Lynch (Annette) of Maui HI, and his daughters Gail Modic (Brian) of Frisco, TX, and Amy Kryak (Don) of Port Saint Lucie, FL, six grandchildren: Kristin Modic Gaston (Mark), Amanda Modic, Ariel Lynch, Kyle Kryak Rose (Chrissy), Donovan Kryak, Kellan Kryak and two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Clyde ‘Scoop’ Lynch, his mother, Eva Pearl (Curly) Gray, his brother, Edward Lynch, his first wife Diane, his second wife, Nancy, granddaughter Sierra Lynch and great-grandson, Lincoln Oliver Gaston.
Don will be remembered for his love of God, country, and Family. Don, when asked what he was most thankful for in his life, would always reply, “FREEDOM”.
