Donna Jane Shaver passed from this life on to her eternal home on May 20, 2018 in Dallas, Texas. Donna was born on November 24, 1960 to her parents, Alvin and Dorothy Jacobs in Denver, Colorado. Donna was the oldest out of three children, sharing her childhood with brother, Kelly, and sister, Leslie. She grew up in Longmont, Colorado until the age of 16, and then she moved to Richardson, Texas with her family. Donna and her siblings had many memories growing up. They will always remember getting an ice cream from Dairy Queen after church on Sundays and Donna cooking chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast after swim practice for her brother and sister.

In 1979, Donna graduated from JJ Pearce High School in Richardson, Texas. She attended Stephen F. Austin University for two years. In 1988, Donna helped her mother start an answering service which she eventually became the owner of the business.

Donna married Wayne May in the early 80’s at Millard Crossing in Nacogdoches, Texas. Together, they enjoyed five years, having one daughter, Kara May. She met Mitch Shaver in 1991 and they married in 2004. Mitch and Donna had one son, Alec Shaver. To her family, Donna was many things. She was a very loving and caring wife, mother, sister, daughter, and grandmother. She loved to stay up late and watch tv and have late night conversations with both of her children. She loved her family. Her only grandchild, Conner, called her DeeDee.

Donna enjoyed baking and cooking for her family and friends. She was fond of the color blue and loved tulips. Donna enjoyed decorating for the holidays and buying flowers for her front yard. She was a big fan of watching Judge Judy, which she would call JJ. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Dorothy Jacobs; and her first husband, Wayne May.

Donna is survived by her husband, Mitch Shaver; her son, Alec Shaver; her daughter, Kara Teets and her husband, Wesley; her grandson, Conner Hardy; her brother, Kelly Jacobs; her sister, Leslie Dorsey and her husband, Troy; her nieces, Gracie Jacobs, Kendra Dorsey, and Shelly Dorsey; and her close friends, Mindy Portman and Geoff Comstock.

It was so hard to believe when I heard Donna had passed away. Seems like just yesterday we were young girls having fun. She was so beautiful, caring, and sweet, always laughing. I will miss you, my friend, but will always cherish the memories of the fun times we had.
Mitch and Family are in my thoughts and prayers. My heart hurts so badly for you.

Donna was always taking care of everyone else - her family, her employees, her friends and on and on! She was one of the most caring, empathetic, sincere and strong women I've known! I'm blessed to say that she was a friend - even when over the past few years school, kids commitments and her crazy work schedule kept us from meeting up - I knew that when we did again, it would be just like we never left off.

This is not supposed to be about me but I just have to say "wow", this news really through me for a loop! I was looking forward to our next lunch date! She treated my kids like hers. She was an "always friend" and I enjoyed every minute of our time together! I miss you Donna! My heart hurts. But I'm sure you're already looking over everyone with your super-large angel wings and still trying to coordinate and make things easy for everyone else.

I lost a great friend but Heaven gained a beautiful angel! I know that I will see you again at some time. And until we connect again, hold that perfect lunch table for us, OK?

Love and tears,
Kathy Stanton
