Doris Marie McClinton, age 86, of Richardson, Texas passed away on Tuesday January 15, 2019. Doris was born Wednesday June 22, 1932 in Greenville, Texas to Effie Ann (McCurdy) Hill and Jennings Bryant Hill.
Doris grew up in Farmersville, Texas. She was one of eight children; six boys and two girls. She learned to be tough growing up with so many brothers. Life was not easy growing up during the great depression. Like many other families, her family raised cotton. She had to learn to work hard, at an early age, helping the family in the cotton fields. She would often reminisce about walking to school as a child, no matter what the weather was like. As a teenager she worked at the candy factory in Farmersville.
Doris married Vince Villanueva and the couple was blessed with four children; Rick, Mark, Steve, and Barbara. Growing up with six brothers went a long way in preparing her to raise three rambunctious boys and one baby girl. The children remember all of their friends loved to come to their house since Doris kind and had a heart that was welcoming to all. Her home was always open to everyone, and she treated them as if they were family.
Doris worked for Varo and then E-Systems as an electronic assembler for thirty years, while raising a family. She retired from E-Systems in 1992. During her time at E-Systems Doris met Jim McClinton. The two enjoyed one another's company and had many common interests. They were later married and the couple would have celebrated 37 years of marriage in February 2019. Doris and Jim loved traveling after retiring from E-Systems and were privileged to travel to Hawaii and Europe. In recent years they spent many hours playing dominos at home.
Doris loved cooking, baking, Gardening, Traveling, Sewing, Arts & Crafts, Playing Dominos, Word Finds, but most of all being home with her family. Doris loved to bake for her family and one of her specialties was banana pudding. She was happiest when she had all her children and grandchildren together at one time. Anytime you were at Doris' home you were sure to be offered something to eat or a beverage of your choice.
Doris was a member of Rogers Baptist Church since 2010, an extended family to her, that she dearly loved. She missed attending when she fell ill and would talk about when she would be well enough to attend services again. She had a giving heart; knowing the truth that Jesus taught, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." She loved to share her possessions with all she loved. If you visited Doris, more than likely, she would find something around her home that she felt you would want or need, and try her very best to send you home with it.
Doris and her Daughter, Barbara, enjoyed bargain shopping and eating-out together. They loved to share magazines and spend time going through them, looking for new recipes to try out. They also enjoyed working on arts and craft projects together; like creating wreaths or flower arrangements together.
Doris will be fondly remembered for the love and compassion she gave to her family and friends.
