Edward George Maier

October 19, 1946 – June 20, 2026
Obituary of Edward George Maier
IN THE CARE OF

Ted Dickey West Funeral Home

Edward George Maier, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on October 19, 1946, Edward lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, and an unwavering willingness to help others.

Those who knew Edward remember him as someone who never hesitated to volunteer his time, lend a hand, or offer support to anyone in need. His gentle spirit and steady presence made him a source of comfort and encouragement to his family, friends, and community.

Edward shared an extraordinary 55-year marriage with the love of his life, Carol. Their story began in college when Carol interviewed Edward for a campus article about "The Big Man on Campus." What started as a simple conversation blossomed into a lifelong partnership built on love, laughter, mutual respect, and unwavering devotion.

Edward dedicated 34 years of his professional life to Arthur Andersen, where he earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike before retiring as a Partner. His career was marked by integrity, leadership, and a genuine commitment to helping others succeed. Retirement did not slow him down. He continued working as a consultant, a role that suited him perfectly because it allowed him to do what he loved most—mentor others. Whether guiding someone through a career transition, helping them navigate a new phase of life, or simply offering thoughtful advice and encouragement, Edward found great fulfillment in sharing his wisdom and experience. His guidance left a lasting impression on countless people.

A proud Chicago native at heart, Edward was a passionate supporter of Chicago sports. He faithfully cheered for the Cubs, the Bears, and every team that represented his hometown. Through championship celebrations and challenging seasons alike, his loyalty never wavered.

Above all, Edward treasured his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Maier; his son, Chris Maier; his daughter-in-law, Jensy; and his two cherished grandchildren, Joshua and Hannah, who brought immeasurable joy and pride to his life.

Edward leaves behind a legacy of compassion, service, mentorship, and love that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. His generosity, humility, wisdom, and caring nature touched countless lives, and his memory will remain a lasting blessing to those who loved him.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Project Unity or Visiting Nurse Association Texas, organizations that reflect Edwards' lifelong commitment to caring for others. Donations may be made online at projectunity.net/give or vnatexas.org/give.
