

Plano, Texas – Elaine L. Knorr, 72, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and devoted friend, left us and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Oct 19, 2012 while surrounded by her family at the Life Care Center, Plano, TX. She is survived by her husband of more than 45 years, Richard; her son and daughter-in-law, Tyler and Lisa Knorr of Gastonia, NC; daughter, Heather A. Fitzgerald and son- in-law, Alex of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Amanda Compton married to Chris Compton, Daniel Knorr of Gastonia, and Joseph, Zachary, and Kate Fitzgerald of Dallas, Texas, and great grandson Ethan Compton of Gastonia, NC. Elaine Knorr, born June 15, 1940, the daughter of Oscar and Ada Strauss, grew up in Lebonon, PA and Myerstown, PA. She received a teaching degree and taught school before becoming a full time Mother. Her passion was the love of her Lord Jesus and his Word which was always with her. She spent much time studying the Bible. She devoted much time in prayer with the Lord for her family, friends, and this Nation. She started Gaston Praying Women. She loved children and was the first Children's Director for Community Bible Study of Gastonia. She devoted four years to homeschooling her grandchildren. She has a compelling love for the unborn, serving on the board and as director of the Crisis Pregnancy Center Gastonia. She loved mentoring other women and leaves many close friends. She is dearly missed. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov 10th at the Parkwood Baptist Church sanctuary in Gastonia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Crisis Pregnancy Center, 800 Robinson Road, Gastonia, NC 28054. Arrangements are with the Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, Dallas, TX.
