

Fred J. Raines, born July 10, 1935, passed from this life on August 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. A man of unwavering faith, joyful spirit, and steady devotion, Fred lived 91 years as a servant of the Lord and a blessing to all who knew him.
Fred was preceded in death by his father, R.W. Raines; his mother, Nettie Raines; and his beloved grandsons David Greenwood, Mitchell Swenson, and Philip Greenwood.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Fuller Raines, with whom he shared an extraordinary 72 years of marriage—an enduring example of love, partnership, and commitment. Together they built a family rooted in faith, laughter, and resilience.
Fred leaves behind his four children: Deborah and Walter Thompson; Fred and Christina Raines; Mary and John MacLauclan; and Nelda and Curt Donnell. He is also survived by nieces, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, each of whom carry his joy, kindness, and legacy forward.
A proud Captain in the United States Air Force, Fred served his country with honor and discipline. His dedication continued throughout his life as he became Building Committee Chairman for the McDermott Road Church of Christ, where his leadership, service, and faith shaped the church community for decades.
Fred was known for his cheerful nature, always happy, always encouraging, always ready with a smile. He loved baseball, fishing, and golf. He found joy in both the game and the fellowship they brought.
His life was a testament to faith, family, and service. Those who knew him will remember his gentle humor, his steadfast kindness, and the way he made every person feel valued.
Fred’s legacy lives on in the hearts of his family, his church, and all who were blessed to share in his journey.
