

Gary was born in Livingston, N.J. December 29, 1945 to William and Marie Zigenfus and preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Marilyn Battersby and Betty Ann Zigenfus. Gary is survived by his brother Robert William (Rose Marie) of Evansville Indiana, son, David; daughters, Lindsay and Kaitlin; and grandchildren, Zoe, Taylor and Zachary; several nieces and nephews; as well as, a fiancé, Edith Bestos, and her family.
Gary earned his Bachelor of Arts from Trenton State College and his M.S. degree in physical therapy from Duke University. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the APTA's Orthopedic Section. He founded the physical therapy program at Concentra in 1992. He always set his goals high and was serving as the National Therapy Director of Concentra.
He was a proud Iron Duke alum, who enjoyed watching and cheering on the Blue Devils. Gary enjoyed spending time with family and anything that involved the ocean; especially in Ocean City, New Jersey where he could grab a slice of Mack & Mancos or enjoy the “fresh, salty air”.
Gary was beloved by all who knew him known for his gentleness, kindness, and optimistic attitude. The celebration of life service will be held at Custer Road United Methodist on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at 1pm. In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in Gary’s honor may be directed to the American Heart Association or to the Reserve Aid that supports the troops.
