

George was born on June 11, 1952, in Aransas Pass, Texas. He spent his early years in the coastal community and attended H.T. Faulk Elementary School and Oak Park Middle School before later attending Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas.
George will be remembered for his strong work ethic, practical wisdom, generosity, and willingness to help others. During his years with the City of Irving, he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends through his dedication, reliability, and commitment to service. Throughout his life, he built lasting friendships and touched the lives of family members, friends, neighbors, and coworkers alike.
Those who knew George will never forget his big, beautiful smile. It could light up a room and instantly put people at ease. For those who loved him, that smile reflected the warmth, kindness, and genuine spirit that made George such a special person.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Earl Echols Sr. and Betty Bartlett Riley.
He is survived by his devoted partner of 38 years, Daniel F. Wilkins, Jr.; his sister, Leanne Holland; his brother, Joseph Earl Echols Jr.; his cousin, Keith Campbell; extended family members James Wilkins, Cheryl Echols, and Josh Brumett; and many friends who will forever cherish his memory.
George and Daniel shared 38 wonderful years together, traveling throughout the United States and Canada, visiting relatives and friends, maintaining their home in Murphy, Texas, and creating a lifetime of cherished memories. During George's final weeks, Daniel remained by his side, providing comfort, care, and unwavering support until the very end.
In accordance with his wishes, George will be cremated, and his ashes will be scattered in the Gulf. No funeral or memorial service will be held.
George will be forever loved, deeply missed, and fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
