George E. Priest, Jr., age 52 departed from this earthly life to his heavenly home on September 27, 2010 in Dallas Texas. George was born May 5, 1958 in Dallas, Texas to George and Anna Priest. He married the love of his life, Renee, on April 16, 2005 at Prestonwood Baptist Church. He graduated from Richardson High School in 1976. He then attended Hardin–Simmons University and received his Bachelor of Arts degree graduating in August of 1981. He felt a call into the ministry and attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and graduated with a Master’s Degree in Art and Religious education in May of 1984. George was the Activities Director at Autumn Leaves Memory Care Center in Carrollton, Texas. He loved his residents like they were family. What a treasure it is to our family to hear story after story of residents and their family’s share about how special George was to them. Countless words from families who share that the Lord would provide just the right moment for George to share Jesus with his residents. He and his wife Renee were actively involved in the Children’s ministry at Prestonwood. They served, for years, knowing that one day these children would come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Even now, beyond a shadow of a doubt, we know that George is celebrating in the Lord’s presence with the many adults and children that he had the privilege of leading to the Lord. George was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, treasured uncle, and good friend to many. His favorite moments were those he spent with his sons and nephews. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Renee, of Carrollton and sons, Steven, of Azle, Texas and Matthew, of Austin, Texas. Parents, George and Anna Priest of Lewisville, Texas; sister, Jeanna Soper of Lewisville, Texas; nephews, Hunter and Trevor Soper of Lewisville, Texas; uncle and aunt, Dr. John H. and Marty Beard of Tyler, Texas; aunt Katherine Rotsch of Brighton, Illinois; cousins Johnny Beard of Frisco, Texas, Deborah Beard Duffer of Reno, Nevada and Neta Beth Pell of Brighton, Illinois. Mother-in-law; Jackie Wilson of Arlington, Texas and sister-in-law, Gayla Lowke of Lewisville, Texas. Having grown up and lived in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex area his entire life, there are hosts of wonderful people who knew and loved George as a friend. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made directly to Autumn Leaves Memory Care Facility of Carrollton, Texas, 1800 King Arthur Blvd., Carrollton, Texas, 75010.
