A pillar of strength and a beacon of love, his absence leaves a void in our hearts. Doug was born to Paul and Helen Reiter, on July 21, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Doug was married to Mary Reiter for 56 years before her death on July 20th, 2021, after a five-year battle with cancer. After Mary’s passing, Doug moved into Highland Springs Senior Living and eventually into FountainView Assisted Living where he received care for his late stages of dementia.
At Highland Springs, Doug met Patty Jantho, who he was blessed to spend the remaining years of his life with. He was a devote Catholic, family man, and businessman, that dedicated his life to taking care of his family and the ones he loved. Doug survived by his sons, David and Craig Reiter and their families, his brother-in-law, Don Washburn, his dear friend Patty Jantho and the caring professionals at FountainView.
To commemorate his remarkable life and the memories we cherish, a Mass will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church on February 1st, 2025 at 11am. Following the Mass, there will be a Celebration of Life lunch at Springhill Suites Hotel across from Highland Springs Senior Living facility.
Highland Spring is graciously providing a shuttle for Doug’s friends at Highland Springs that want to attend. We welcome all who knew him to join us in celebrating the life of a man who was loved deeply and will be missed.
Arrangements by Ted Dickey West Funeral Home.
