Richardson- Harold Copperman, 93, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2019 in Dallas, Texas. Born on April 16, 1926, in Bronx, NY, he spent the last forty years of his life as a resident of Richardson, TX.
Harold had an extensive career in International Marketing and Business Development. He was a graduate of Brooklyn College and did his early work in radio and television broadcasting. He went on to hold executive positions with a large multi-national organizations that included Electronic Data Systems, Nortel, Stromberg-Carlson, Western Union International and ITT.
He was most proud of his military career. He served in the US Navy during WWII as a radio operator. He was later commissioned in the US Army Signal Core and was among the first to be accepted into their new Military Government Branch. He was a graduate of many of the military’s advanced education programs including the US Army Command and General Staff College. He rose to the rank of Colonel before retiring from the service in 1986.
He is survived by his sons, Harry (Ellen) and Ron (Linda), 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and many friends and neighbors. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jimie (Genevieve), in 1995.
The “Colonel”, as he liked to be called, loved talking politics and toasting with a good glass of wine. He will be missed by all who loved him.
Colonel Copperman requested that no service be held for him but that memorial contributions could be made in his and Jimie’s memory to either the Disabled and Homeless American Veterans ( P.O.
