Irma Berniece Israel

Irma Berniece Israel, age 87, of Denison, Texas, joined her husband in eternal peace on January 29, 2016. Irma was born in 1929, to Solomon and Evelyn Gerstein in Brooklyn, New York. She grew up in New York and after several moves lived her final years in north Texas.

Irma was married to Jack Israel in 1947. They went on to have four children. More than anything else Irma, a devoted mother, loved to be with family and friends. She cared deeply about others and consistently put their needs above her own. In the midst of a life filled with many challenges she was always able to find much for which to be thankful, and find brightness in the dark.

Irma is preceded in death by her loving Husband, Jack Israel; Daughter, Bonnie Lynn Israel; and brother, Irving Gerstein. She is survived by her sons, Steve Israel (Sheryl) of Whitewright, TX, Robert Israel of Sherman, TX, and Brian Israel (Donna) of Atlanta, GA; brother, Maurice Gerstein (Marilyn) of New Jersey; sister, Elenor Hannel of Florida; grandchildren, Dylan Smith, Andrea Israel, Shawn Israel, Crissy Martin, Joshua Israel, and Amy Felker, as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
