Jack David Edmonds Sr., of Frisco, Texas passed away of natural causes on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 in Frisco, Texas. He will always be remembered as a loving father and thoughtful friend to all that knew and loved him. Jack’s unmatched charisma, charm, and willingness to engage with anyone made him new friends wherever he went. Whether banker or restaurant hostess he was equally kind to all whom he met.
Jack was born on January 24, 1934 in Van Buren, Arkansas to T.P. and Virginia Edmonds. His father was a used car dealer in Fort Smith, Arkansas and Jack always got to drive the trade-ins. This led to a lifelong love affair with automobiles. Virginia was a buyer for a large department store in town, and frequently traveled to New York on store business. Unfortunately Jack lost his mother due to surgery complications at the young age of 12.
Jack graduated from Van Buren High School in 1952 and went on to Oklahoma Baptist University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 1956.
After he felt the call to preach Jack applied and was accepted to the Fort Worth Theological Seminary, graduating with a Masters degree in Theology four years later. During his time at seminary Jack married his OBU sweetheart Virginia Gayle Peterson from Ardmore Oklahoma. They had two sons, Jack D. Edmonds Jr., and Jeffrey B. Edmonds.
Jack also had a lifetime love of registered quarter horses. Though he travelled extensively abroad as a normal tourist his domestic travel inside the United States was accentuated by his visits to most of the largest and most prestigious quarter horse operations from Texas to California. While befriending ranchers across the southwest, he would study the lineages of quality horses and occasionally buy a stud or mare for his own ranches in Arkansas and Oklahoma.
Jack is survived by two sons, Jack D. Edmonds Jr., Jeffrey B. Edmonds and four grandchildren, Tyler, Taylor, Jason and Jacob Edmonds.
