

He graduated from Richardson High School in 1960. A highlight of his high school years was his participation as a member of the Richardson High School Band marching in President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s 1957 inaugural parade.
Jesse was married to Rebecca Robinson Morris on July 18, 1964, in the First Christian Church in Plano.
He attended Southern Methodist University where he was a member of the Air Force ROTC and received a BSEE in 1965. That Summer he attended Officer Candidate School and was commissioned as 2d Lieutenant in the US Air Force. He was assigned to Keesler AFB, Mississippi, to attend Ground Radar Officer training upon completion of which he was retained at Keesler to serve as a member of the
faculty until he completed his Air Force service at the rank of Captain in 1969.
Jesse then began civilian employment in 1969 as an electrical engineer at Texas Instruments in Richardson where he was later named a Senior Member of Technical Staff. He became an employee of Raytheon when it acquired TI’s defense electronics operations in 1997. He retired in October 1998.
Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, his elder son Jesse E. Morris III and his wife Laurel Sage Harrington Morris, and his sister Helen Morris Miller and her husband Wallace Miller. Survivors include his wife Rebecca Robinson Morris, his daughter Susan Morris Mellow and her husband Brent Mellow, his son John Morris and his wife Jill Stewart Morris, grandchildren Hannah Mellow, Caroline Mellow, Laurel Hunter Morris, Harry Mellow, and Ava Morris. He is also survived by his brother and his wife Jimmie and Alice Vacula Morris, his sister and her husband Patricia Morris McGee and Frank McGee III, numerous nieces and nephews, and numerous long time dear friends.
Jesse had a close relationship with his late father-in-law Leland H. Robinson, Sr. and derived great joy from time on family rural property in East Texas with many family and friends over the years. He will be greatly missed.
Family and friends will celebrate Jesse’s memory on July 21, 2025, at 11:00 am at the First Christian Church, 813 East 15th Street, Plano, with a reception at the Church to follow. Interment will be at Plano Mutual Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Dallas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.
