Joan was born in Niagara Falls, New York, where she grew up and graduated from LaSalle High School. A dedicated student, she earned Honor Roll recognition each year and was proud to be a cheerleader during her high school years.
Joan devoted more than 50 years of her career to Occidental Chemical, where she worked as a National Account Customer Service Representative. She was known for her strong work ethic, kindness, and commitment to serving others.
Above all, Joan’s greatest joy was her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth and generosity touched everyone she met. She also cherished her church family at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Carrollton, where she faithfully volunteered in many ways. Her greatest passion was music. Joan loved singing in the church choir and delighted audiences as a member of the beloved performing group, the “Bad Habits.” Her joyful spirit, beautiful voice, and infectious smile will be deeply missed.
Joan is survived by her son, Brian Monaghan, and daughter-in-law, Connie Monaghan; her cherished grandchildren, Desiree Supulver, Allison Monaghan, and Matthew Monaghan; and her beloved sister, Lucia Castellani.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jim Monaghan; her daughter, Colleen Supulver; and her brother, John Pinkowski.
A Funeral Mass celebrating Joan’s life will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 705 E. Peters Colony Road, Carrollton, Texas 75007.
Date: August 26th @ 11:00am. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF), a cause close to Joan’s heart.
Joan’s legacy of faith, love, kindness, music, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Though she will be greatly missed, we find comfort knowing she is reunited with those who have gone before her and is now at peace in the presence of the Lord.
