Born in San Francisco to parents John and Stella Dorrer, he attended Stanford University, and graduated in 1939. After college, he went to work for Graceline Co. in Panama prior to World War II. He became Navy Lieutenant JG and continued working in the canal zone until the war ended.
He married his wife of 62 years, Nancy Dorrer, and moved to Kenilworth, Illinois. He is survived by his wife, 3 children: John Dorrer, Lynn Dorrer Silver, and Karen Dorrer Kneese; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.
His passion for life and contagious smile will be missed by all.
