Kendra Hoffman Melancon was born April 6, 1948 in Louisville, KY to Kenneth Carter and Naomi Dorothy Hoffman and made her journey to Heaven on July 8, 2014. She attended college at Louisiana Tech in Ruston, where she met and married Edward Melancon and together they had three beautiful daughters: Michelle, Annie and Laura. They moved to Luling, Louisiana where they raised their family. Raising her children became her full time job and love, but she also found joy at the local elementary school where she taught periodically. She spent many years in Louisiana, until she later moved to Dallas to help raise her beloved grandchildren. Spoiling her grandchildren became her favorite past time in addition to spending time with her dogs. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing and doing crossword puzzles. Her love for the Lord guided her through life and that’s evident when looking at her bible. She attended Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano and on the Sundays she couldn’t attend, she watched the services from her computer. She was a beautiful woman with a big heart and Heaven is lucky to have her. Kendra is survived by three daughters, Laura Melancon, Andrea Melancon & Michelle Melancon Schwabauer and son-in law, Karl Schwabauer; three grandchildren, Benjamin Melancon, Lucy Schwabauer & Kamryn Schwabauer; mother, Naomi (Peggy) Hoffman; brother, Michael Hoffman and sister, Pat Lee. She was preceded in death by her father Kenneth Carter Hoffman and her grandparents.
