Ken was an aerospace engineer who spent his career at Lockheed Martin, where he was known for his sharp mind and strong technical skills. He took pride in knowing the answers and helping others solve problems. Problem-solving came naturally to him, and he genuinely enjoyed working through complex ideas - sometimes pulling out a trigonometry book for fun, much the way others might do a crossword puzzle.
Ken was married to Janet for 62 years. They built a long life together and shared a deep commitment to family. Ken’s dream was always to retire on the lake. He retired at age 60 and in 1999 made that dream a reality, settling on Lake Cypress Springs, where he and Janet lived for many years.
Life at the lake suited him well. Ken enjoyed working in his yard, sailing, driving his Jaguar and building things with his hands. His custom-built third garage, fully equipped as a machine shop, was a place where he spent countless hours creating, fixing, and refining - always improving things in his own precise way.
Ken was preceded in death by his wife, Janet, in 2023, and by his brother, Bob, in 2025.
He is survived by his children, Julie Nichols and Greg Cejka; Greg’s wife, Sophia, and their daughters, Cristina and Erin; Julie’s children, Amanda Brown and her husband, Cameron, and Brian Nichols and his wife, Jade; and his great-granddaughters, Olivia and Hattie Brown. Brian and Jade are expecting their first child, with a due date on Ken’s birthday.
Ken lived life on his own terms, guided by curiosity, precision, and determination. He will be deeply missed by his family.
