

Kevin was a loving father, husband, brother, uncle, cousin, colleague, teammate, Marine & friend. He spent most of his childhood with his eight brothers and sisters in Wichita, Kansas. The Dunegan children often attended Catholic schools and Kevin graduated from Douglas High School in 1976. He immediately joined the Marine Corps in 1977 where he served his first tour with the Marines until 1981. Kevin re-enlisted in 1983 and stayed a proud Marine until 1989. He and the family were stationed all over the United States; from North Carolina (where Jessica was born in 1978), to Tustin & El Toro Air Force bases in Orange County California (where Megan was born in 1985, Santa Ana, CA) & of course, TEXAS. Kevin spent 2 long stints on aircraft carriers as an aircraft mechanic. He put in 6 months on an aircraft carrier in the Philippines and 9 months in Okinawa, Japan. Kevin and his first wife, Debra Mercer, had 4 children together during their marriage of 18 years. Megan Dunegan and Jessica Dunegan mentioned above, Jeremy Dunegan and Ricki Keefer who were born in Kansas in 1977 & 1984 respectively.
Kevin recently celebrated his 20 year anniversary with his loving wife, Rita Dunegan. They were two of a kind and they loved each other in their own special way. Kevin’s love for Rita was undeniable and everyone knew that. Kevin’s 4th daughter, Autumn Deschaines was a girl after her Daddy’s heart. She loved him so very and he helped raised her to be the amazing woman that she is today. The past weekend they all spend quality time together going to the Perot Museum in Dallas, enjoyed dinner together, and just hung out. His last weekend was one filled with family, love and touching memories. In his last days he was so happy. He looked forward to growing old with Rita and enjoying life as they had over these past 2 decades. Dad and Rita loved spending time together listening to music and trying to figure out all of the world’s problems while sitting in the garage together.
Kevin’s 4 grandchildren also melted his heart. He dearly loved all of his kids and grandkids as they brought great joy to his life, he was very proud of all of his 5 Jeremy, Jessica, Ricki, Autumn, and the baby Megan. Kevin’s 4 grandchildren are Sebastian Cole Stillwell (dad called him Cole), Makayla, Audrey and Nyla. Kevin looked forward to all of his children getting married and having more grand babies, he even loved all his four legged grand babies.
Kevin had a love for airplanes until his last day. He has worked for several companies here in Texas: KC Aviation, JCPenney Aviation, Gulfstream, Business Jet Solutions, Flex Jet, and even has his own companies, Flight Zone & Dunegan Air. He was most recently Director of Maintenance at Jet Ten at Addison airport. Kevin still dreamed of running his own business again.
Kevin enjoyed Nascar, guns, Kawasaki motorcycles, Washington Redskins, Music like Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath & Stevie Nicks. He loved his cats and he was the biscuit man. Kevin
Kevin had a huge heart and was very giving in his own way. He loved hanging out with his buddy’s and he had many friends. Kevin could walk into a room and brighten it, make people feel loved, and give you a great laugh. He will be missed by family and friends alike. He was the ROCK, the Glue, and much much more to so many people. He has left us with peaceful memories, and his love will continue to be our guide, our strength, and our peace. We all know he will be watching over us, God bless Kevin Dunegan.
