Laura Yacomo Hargett, age 76 of Plano, Texas passed away December 30, 2012. Born and raised in New Mexico, Laura was the daughter of Lawrence and Alma Yacomo and sister to Mary. She idolized her father, an Italian immigrant and miner, who instilled in her a lifelong love of the piano. Music and children were central to Laura’s life. She taught in the Plano and Dallas Independent School Districts for more than 30 years, volunteered with the Plano Family YMCA and raised three sons Rob, John and Rick.
Laura was a graduate of Stephens College and the University of Missouri and earned her Master’s Degree at Southern Methodist University. Stephens College and its Dallas Alumni Association were very dear to her as were the friendships she formed with colleagues within the Plano school district. Laura’s sons would like the many people she met there to know how much they meant to her and how grateful we are that she had you. There will be a memorial service to commemorate her life on January 12 at 2PM at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, 7990 George Bush Turnpike, Dallas, TX 75252.
