

Lawrence “Larry” F. Phillips, 79, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 10, 2025. Born October 1, 1945, in Chicago, IL, he was the only son of the late Lonnie Francis and Eleanor (Draine) Phillips.
On August 3, 1968, in Davenport, IA, he married his high school sweetheart, Deborah Callahan Phillips. They were married for fifty-four years until her death in 2022.
Larry graduated from Assumption High School in 1964 and from St. Ambrose University in 1968, where he was a proud member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
A man deeply loved and respected by all who knew him, Larry was a devoted parishioner of Prince of Peace Catholic Community in Plano, Texas. He was also an active member of Gleneagles Country Club in Plano, serving for many years on the board, including as president. A gifted golfer, Larry earned numerous tournament titles and awards. He and Debbie shared a passion for travel, especially to renowned golf courses around the world.
Larry dedicated nearly 50 years to the financial services industry. He began his career with Connecticut General in 1968, continuing through its transitions to Cigna and later Lincoln Financial Advisors. As manager of the Dallas office for many years, he mentored countless young planners. In 2000, he was named Chief Executive Officer of The Resource Group, leading the top 200 planners within Lincoln Financial Advisors until his retirement in 2016.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Hilary (Phillips) Dietz, her husband, Brian, and their daughters, Morgan Elle and Meadow Leigh; his son, Forrest Phillips, his wife, Stacey, and their children, Emily Shae and Layton Finn. He is also survived by his four sisters-in-law: Colleen Callahan of Greeley, CO; Jen Schwartz of Aliso Viejo, CA; Jan Doyle and her husband, Jim, of San Juan Capistrano, CA; and Bridget Stewart of Brea, CA; his three brothers-in-law: Mike Callahan and his wife, Cindy, of Milton, FL; Cary Callahan of Corona, CA; and Kelly Callahan of Enumclaw, WA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who adored him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Debbie; his parents; and his aunt and uncle, Claire and Edwin Draine.
A funeral Mass will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 5100 W Plano Pkwy, Plano, Texas, on Friday, September 12, at 11:00 a.m., with a Celebration of Life to follow at his home.
