Lawrence Edward Washington

Lawrence Edward Washington, Sr., entered this world on April 20, 1949. He was the youngest son of eleven children, born to S.C. Washington and Elbeatrice Gains Washington in Sulphur Springs, Tx. At an early age, he became a member of Morning Chapel Baptist Church. Lawrence received a formal education and was a1967 graduate of Douglas High School.

Early on, he was employed as a material handler at H.D. Lee for several years in Sulphur Springs Texas. He later relocated to Dallas, TX and furthered his career at Sue Ann, Inc. in the same industry. Prior to retiring, Lawrence also worked at Casual Living as a delivery driver and furniture installer.

A huge family-oriented guy, Lawrence enjoyed being with family and friends. Usually these moments included playing cards, dominoes, football boards, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and listening to the Blues. If not doing that, you might find him working on cars with his nephews and friends.

After a short illness and before moving from labor to reward, Lawrence accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.

Lawrence quietly departed this life on Saturday, March 9, 2024. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, wife, one daughter, four brothers and four sisters.

Those who will forever cherish his memory in their hearts are his three children, Conya Harris-Carter (Larry), Lawrence Washington, Jr., and Mylisia Harper. Two bonus children, Bryan Ford (Willa), and LaShonda Owens (Don).

Three grandchildren; Rodney Harris, Jr., Ziyan Harris and Lauren Washington. Four bonus grandchildren; Brandon Rainwater, Bryan Ford, Jr., Mauria Owens and Nazhir Carter. Five bonus great grandchildren, two sisters, Thelma Hall (James) and Vernell Washington, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A visitation for Lawrence will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, 7990 President George Bush, Dallas, TX 75252. A funeral service will occur Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 7990 President George Bush, Dallas, TX 75252. Refreshments and desserts will be served on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 7990 President George Bush, Dallas, TX 75252. A visitation will occur Monday, March 18, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at West Oaks Funeral Home, 500 Hillcrest Dr S, Sulphur Springs, TX 75482.
