Lorraine Ann Paterson

Lorraine Ann PATERSON, 82, of Frisco, TX, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, only days before her 83rd birthday. Born on January 18, 1928 in East Elmhurst, NY to the late Teresa and Vincent Pandolfi, she was raised in New York.

An excellent student, after completing high school, Lorraine worked for RCA Global Communications, where she would fortuitously meet her lifelong partner and soul mate, John Paterson, known as "Pat." They married on October 19, 1947 and shared 57 wonderful years together. As a couple, they lived ardently for each other and for their children. Pat’s position as an executive for RCA Global Communications took them and their family to Dallas in 1963, where they remained.

Music and dancing were among Lorraine’s passions and she could cut a rug with the best, which was a joy to watch. She was an avid bridge player who treasured the time she spent with her friends each Friday playing bridge.

A devout Catholic, Lorraine was a charter member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dallas and a current member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in The Colony, TX. Throughout her life, Lorraine placed tantamount importance on family, to whom she showed unwavering devotion. Her family will remember Lorraine for her unconditional and selfless love. Yet, Lorraine’s profound spirituality found expression in the bountiful generosity, help and compassion she extended to her family, friends, and even strangers, in whom she always saw the best. Lorraine’s extraordinary enthusiasm for life was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Intensely sensitive, she always put others before herself. Fittingly, her family and friends, referred to Lorraine as ‘an angel.’ She is, and will forever be, our angel.

She is survived by her six children: Linda van Nunen and (David) of Sydney, Australia; John Paterson, Jr. and (Pam) of Dallas, TX; Thomas Paterson and (Brenda) of Grand Prairie, TX; Nancy Paterson Ward, Plano, TX; Patricia Vaughn and (Robert) of Plano, TX; Lorraine Morris and (Mitch) of Plano, TX; her brother, Vincent Pandolfi, Jr.; grandchildren, John Wilson and Kristina Paterson, Megan and Mackenzie Morris; and, sister-in-law, Maryann Pandolfi. Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, John "Pat" Paterson; parents, Vincent & Teresa Pandolfi; and, siblings Antoinette Anderson and Lawrence Pandolfi.

A Rosary and visitation will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 7:00PM, at Ted Dickey Funeral Home, 8011 Frankford Rd., Dallas, TX. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 19 at 11:30AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 7000 Morning Star, The Colony, TX. Graveside services will follow at 2:30PM, at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
