Born on October 8, 1930, in Wyandotte, Michigan, to Harley Boyd Pumroy and Margaret Elizabeth Baunoch, Madge and her younger sister Iris lived a life rooted in faith and family. After high school, she worked her way through college, receiving a degree in teaching from Eastern Michigan University in 1952. A devout Catholic, her gentle spirit, steady wisdom, and enduring grace guided her family through every chapter of life. An avid reader in her later years, Madge was an active member of several women’s groups including Northwood Book Club, Northwood Women’s Club, and Infant Jesus of Prague Circle.
Madge was the beloved wife of William Michner Frew, and they had just celebrated their 75th Wedding Anniversary on September 4th. She built a warm, welcoming home filled with love, laughter, and faith. Her greatest joy was her family. She was a deeply devoted mother to her three children: William Michael, Marna Lynn, and Erik Boyd.
When her children married, Madge welcomed Kathy, Alice and Lawrence into her family as her own. Her legacy continues through her adoring grandchildren Christopher Frew, Casey Frew, Michelle Frew-Konopka, Erin Frew, Kara Frew, and William Morland and her cherished great-grandchildren, Quinn and Sadie Konopka, all of whom brought immense light and happiness to her later years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local Catholic charity or educational foundation of your choice, honoring a lifelong commitment to her faith. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
