It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn Rae Traub (Friedman), of Dallas, who passed away on March 15, 2026. Marilyn was born on May 12, 1953 to Harold and Beverly Friedman in Houston. She was not only generous in life, but she truly knew that it was more blessed to give than to receive. Her generosity knew no bounds.
Marilyn touched the lives of many with her profound sense of humor, warmth, creativity, curiosity, and gregarious outgoing nature. Marilyn was a generous friend and possessed an uncanny ability to connect to just about anyone. She possessed a brilliant mind, disarming wit, and an empathetic heart. She had a rare gift of building community wherever she found herself allowing her to connect with people from all walks of life.
After Marilyn graduated from Bellaire High School in 1971, she went on to study at Boston University. After graduating with a degree in health science, Marilyn decided to change direction and pursued a career as a barber, kickstarting a 20 year career she loved. Marilyn met Robert Traub in 1977 in Houston, during a Christmas break. They married shortly after meeting and went on to have 2 children, Kelley in 1987, followed by Kevin in 1991.
Marilyn retired as a barber and enjoyed years working in retail at the GAP, while also enjoying spending free time volunteering at animal shelters, working in the garden, and doting on her beloved children.
Marilyn was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Robert Traub in Dallas, children Kelley and Jim McIntyre in Frisco (grandaughter Payton), and Kevin Traub and Heather in Highlands Ranch, Colorado (granddaughter Marley and grandson Dawson.)
A gathering to honor and celebrate Marilyn’s life will be held at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home in Dallas on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 3:00 pm.
Although Marilyn is gone, she will live in our hearts forever.
