Mary Arlene Carlson

Arlene was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI. On January 17, 1948 Arlene married Harry J. Carlson. During their 57 year marriage, they lived in Grand Rapids (1948-1953), Indianapolis (1953-1955), Minneapolis (1955-1958), Dallas (1958-1969), Chicago (1969-1974) and finally settling in Huntington Beach, CA in 1974. During their years in Huntington Beach, they were very active members of the Huntington Beach Baptist Church where Arlene played the piano and Harry served as Deacon. Arlene was also an active volunteer with the American Red Cross from the late 1970s to the mid 1990s. After Harry retired from Campbell Soup in 1984, Arlene and Harry traveled extensively, visiting family, friends and seeing the country from the comfort of their motor home, with Harry’s infamous Red MG in tow. Arlene is preceded in death by her husband, Harry J. Carlson and her sister, Shirley Slagboom. Arlene is survived by her son Rick and daughter-in-law Nancy, son Greg and daughter-in-law Kristy, granddaughter Kristen and grandsons Logan, Jacob and Luke, along with several nieces and nephews. There will be a celebration of life on April 25, 2014 at 3pm at the Hilton Waterfront Resort in Huntington Beach, CA. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
