Michael Edmund Janicki

January 20, 1939July 31, 2018

Janicki, Michael Edmund of Richardson, Texas passed away peacefully, Tuesday, July 31, 2018, following his battle with Alzheimer’s. Born to Edmund “Nick” and Joan Janicki of Milwaukee, Wisconsin on January 20, 1939. Graduated from Marquette High School in 1956. Following high school, he enrolled at Marquette University and met the love of his life, Audrey Soergel and they married in August 1959. While at Marquette, he worked full time and started a family. At his graduation, he and his wife had a photograph taken of them and their four young children for the local newspaper. He started his lifelong career in Information Technology and was transferred to Dallas, Texas, in 1975.

Michael and Audrey retired to the beautiful woods in Palestine, east Texas, where it reminded them of Wisconsin. His children and grandchildren loved going out to the “country” where they hiked, shot BB guns, made bonfires, shot fireworks and rode go carts. Known to his grandchildren as “Papa” he loved to take them on the train rides from Palestine to Rusk every fall and spring. Papa will be remembered for his love of family, giving heart, books, puzzles, Scrabble, trains, roses, clocks, deer, hummingbirds and his funny sense of humor.

Survived by: his wife Audrey and their four children: Mark and his wife Barbara, Ann Weaver, Steve and his wife Teresa, and Sandy DeMoss and her husband Drew; grandchildren: Charlie, Andrew, William, Richard, Thamir “Tommy”, Evelyn “Missy”, Lauren, Ali, Christie, Corey and Austin.

The family thanks the Heritage House caregivers, Cathy, Zippy and Felicia and THPC Hospice caregivers Kelly, Melanie, Harriet, Mable, Yvonne and Jule for their thoughtful and kind care.

Rosary will be held at Friday, August 10, 2018, 7:00 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9643 Ferndale Road Dallas, Texas 75238. Funeral Mass and celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 11, 2018, 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church.

I was sad to hear about the loss of Mr. Janicki. (all I ever knew him as). After the Janicki's moved to Dallas, our family had a great time getting to know them, go on camping trips and attending boy scout events. He could not have been a nicer man and always had a nice or funny thing to say. My prayers go out to Audrey and to the family.

Mike, I am heartbroken to see you go! You were one of the funniest, most genuine, and caring persons I have ever known. Your wit and sense of humor rivalled mine I'd like to think! I know you are in a better place and your soul is at rest and at peace with God. I will forever miss you in my heart and soul, and I am consoled knowing that you are not suffering any more. My prayers are ongoing for your wife, and family, whom I know are deeply hurt by your passing. Your memories instilled in me will never fade, and I'm glad I got to say goodbye to you before you left this world! God Bless you Mike, and I love you!

Mark and Family

So sorry for your loss. You were kind enough to share with me your final days with him as well as the memories your family spent with him and your mother at the Palestine farm. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

God bless,
