

Nancy Louise Kempf, a wonderful and loving wife, mother, aunt and friend passed away in Dallas on June 12,2026. Nancy was born on October 16, 1929, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Otto and Norma Twelmeyer. She grew up in Milwaukee where she attended Milwaukee-Downer College, graduating in 1951 with Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy.
Nancy served in the U.S. Army, Medical Special Corps. She did two tours of duty between 1951 and 1956. Nancy met her future husband, Robert Kempf, while in the army at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. After they were married, they settled down in Silver Spring, Maryland, where Robert got a position at NASA, Goddard Space Flight Center as a Patent Attorney, retiring from NASA 30 years later. Nancy was employed as an Occupational Therapist at Holy Cross Hospital for over 20 years. She was the director of the OT department. Nancy and Robert had two sons, James Richard (1959-) and Thomas Steven (1961-1967, who sadly passed away after an illness). Following her retirement Nancy took up the hobby of weaving. She had a 36” floor loom and would hand weave exquisite scarves, table runners, placemats and many other things she shared and donated. Nancy also volunteered at the Audubon Book shop in Chevy Chase, while still in Maryland. Nancy and Robert travelled extensively and enjoyed their many Smithsonian and Elderhostel tours crossing the USA, Canada and many other countries around the world. In 2010 Nancy and Robert moved to Highland Springs in Dallas, Texas to be closer to their son, James, who lived and worked as an engineer in Arlington, Texas.
Nancy was an avid reader, reading an average of 35 books a year. She enjoyed the book club and other activities in her 16 years living at Highland Springs. Robert predeceased her in 2017. Nancy will be remembered for many things including her lifelong love of cats; love of weaving, love of her family and friends and especially for her generous and giving heart. Nancy will be dearly missed by her friends and family. Nancy is survived by James and Beatrice, her nieces Sandra, Debra, Carla, Khristine, Diane, (and their families) and a host of friends. Her legacy will be honored on July 2, 2026.
