

Nancy Lee Staples peacefully passed away on November 9, 2013. She was born on October 29, 1916 in Baird, Texas. She was the only child of John and Lillian Bates. She was preceded in death by her parents John S. Bates and Lillian B. Bates, and her husband of 69 years, Jack V. Staples. Nancy attended public school in Fort Worth and graduated from Baylor University in 1938. She taught at the College of Marshall for the next several years. In 1939 she married the love of her life Jack V. Staples. She had one son John S. Staples who was born in 1943. She was a homemaker for most of the 69 years they were married. Her interests were her family, cooking, sewing, and art. Nancy was active in The Woman's Club of Fort Worth; where she held offices in Nautilus, the Art Department, and the Woman's Club itself. She was also the Woman's Club adviser to several sections of The Junior Club. She had a real gift for living life, a very generous soul and was loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her son John S. Staples and his wife Marilyn and her grandchildren A. Latham Staples and Meredith Robinson and husband Cole. Memorial Services will be held at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home at 7990 George Bush Turnpike, Dallas, TX at 11:00 am on Monday, November 25. In lieu of flowers please make donations in her name to the Art Department of the Woman's Club of Fort Worth.
