

Patricia Ruth Hopkins (Pat), aged 98, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025, in Plano, TX surrounded by her loving family. Pat was born in Carlsbad, NM on February 1, 1926 to William Brit and Mabel Claire Rogers. She attended Pecos High School before the family settled in Roswell, NM. Pat graduated from the University of NM before returning to Roswell where she met her husband, Philip Hopkins, who was stationed at Walker Air Force Base. They were married in 1950. Through his military career, Pat and Phil were stationed in Riverside, CA, Shreveport, LA, Guam, Bryan, TX and Eglin AFB in Florida where he retired to Roswell, NM to be close to her parents.
Pat was preceded in death by their beloved daughter, Claire Ann (Bauder), in 2008 and her cherished husband, Phil, in 2015. Pat was the cherished mother of five children—Philip, Claire Ann, Roger, Beth, and Bill—proud grandmother to eight, and great-grandmother to three. Her life was a testament to strength, love, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
Alongside her husband, she traveled extensively with the Officer’s Wives Club, adding a rich tapestry of experiences to her life. Pat wore many hats throughout her remarkable life. She was a kindergarten teacher at St. Andrew’s, a medical transcriptionist, and an accomplished Mary Kay consultant. She also served as a substitute teacher, real estate agent, and volunteer Emergency Medical Technician. Pat was an active member of the altar guild at her churches, and a loyal participant in P.E.O. and Kappa Kappa Gamma alumnae groups. She embraced her creative passions through oil and watercolor painting, crafts, and preserving family memories through her love of scrapbooking. In recent years, her book club in The Woodlands, TX became a cherished circle of friends who loved and admired her greatly. Pat’s warmth, creativity, and dedication to community left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
On March 14th, a memorial service will be held at the Cathedral of St. John in Albuquerque at 11:00 am followed by an interment service at the Santa Fe National Cemetery; her final resting place next to her husband at 2:30 pm.
