Patricia Mary Sawicki

Pat was born on March 17, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois, to Edward and Florence Ajzyk. She devoted her life to her family, her faith, and her love of teaching, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.

She was the beloved wife of the late Edward "Ed" Sawicki, with whom she shared more than 50 years of marriage. She was a devoted mother to Mark Sawicki (Heather) and John Sawicki, and a proud grandmother to Ben and Jack. She is also survived by her siblings, Liz Cardona and Ed Ajzyk, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed, and her parents, Edward and Florence Ajzyk.

Pat spent her childhood in a Chicago brownstone, where she was raised by her parents and educated in the local Catholic schools. From an early age, she knew she wanted to teach. After earning her degree in Home Economics, she spent many years teaching in the Chicago area, sharing her passion for cooking and sewing with numerous students.

Her love of cooking was one of the many ways she showed her love for family and friends. Her beef stroganoff, stuffed manicotti, fruit breads, angel food cakes, and her Easter lamb cake became cherished family traditions. While living in Beavercreek, Ohio, she developed a special fondness for cooking with zucchini, creating everything from fried zucchini and zucchini bread to her legendary zucchini pie, which famously fooled more than a few people into believing it was made with apples.

Pat was a devoted and supportive mother who never missed an opportunity to cheer on her sons. Whether it was providing halftime snacks, attending games and track meets, or celebrating afterward with ice cream, she was always there. She was also a proud band mom, volunteering alongside Ed for many years with the bands at Clark High School, Plano East Senior High School, and Jasper High School. She also enthusiastically supported countless Scouting adventures for Ed, Mark, and John.

Her Catholic faith was the foundation of her life. Serving at St. Mark Catholic Church was deeply meaningful to her, beginning when her sons attended school there and continuing for decades as a Eucharistic Minister. She and Ed became a familiar and faithful presence in the parish, serving side by side for many years. Pat also found lasting friendships through the parish rosary ministry. Together with Ed, she spent countless hours making rosaries, praying over each one before they were given to those in need of comfort, hope, and prayer.

Pat will be remembered for her deep faith, generous heart, and steadfast devotion to her family. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched through her teaching, her service to others, and the love she shared so freely. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1201 Alma Drive, Plano, TX 75075. Praying of the rosary will begin at 9:30 am, followed by mass at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the St. Marks Rosary Makers.
