

Paul Edward Brooks, born March 24, 1924, son of the late William Lewis Brooks and Winnie Dryden Brooks, passed peacefully from this life at home, February 4, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Hedy Elizabeth Brooks, their daughter Paula Sue Brooks Foster and husband Ray. His grandchildren; Jennifer Foster Carroll, Jonathan Bradley Foster, Lindsey Foster Worlitz and husband Jason Worlitz.
Paul joined the US Army Air Force at the age 18 and became a pilot in WWII. He was deployed to Okinawa where he flew combat missions over Japan and Shanghai as a pilot on the B25 bomber. He stayed on as active then reserve in the US Air Force retiring at the rank of Major in 1963. Flying airplanes was one his most beloved activities of his life.
Paul later worked in the insurance business for 34 years before retiring to pursue one of his other passions, golf. Later in retirement he returned to his first passion, flying, this time with model airplanes.
He and Hedy, spent their active years in retirement traveling around Europe, but found their favorite vacation spot, Hawaii where they lived 3 months every year for 19 years. There they made friends they have cherished to this day.
