

Paul Edward Meister passed away on August 11, 2020. He was born September 17, 1937 to Ellen Mable (Ryan) and Harry Adolphus Meister in Norfolk, Nebraska. He was the third son born to the couple; he has two older brothers George and Harry.
Paul attended Sacred Heart grade school, Holy Name High School and Creighton University all in Omaha, NE, where he was an avid sportsman. He played basketball and baseball.
He attended Creighton University and continued to pursue sports. He was on the baseball team for Creighton and made the local Omaha paper regularly.
He met and married Rita M. Ullrich, he proposed at a Creighton basketball game. They married on June 3, 1961 and celebrated more than 58 years together. They were married in Mapleton, Iowa and lived in Omaha for several years. The family moved to Houston for Paul’s job and stayed about 18 months.
The family moved to Richardson, Texas, in 1970 and joined St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church. Paul was a devoted volunteer for the Men’s Club and the Church while raising five children, who all attended and graduated from the parish grade school. Paul was involved in many aspects of St. Paul including: Parish Finance Committee, Boy Scouts, Church and School service projects and the Men’s Club. He organized and prepared parish and organizational group meals as part of the Men’s Club and helped create the Men’s club breakfast and fish fry gatherings.
Paul continued his love of sports his entire life and was constantly watching football, soccer, hockey, basketball and the occasional golf tournament. He and Rita would attend the Men’s Club sponsored bus trips to hockey and baseball games and even a trip or two to the horse races. Paul attended the baseball All Star game at the ballpark in Arlington, TX in July 1995 and loved the entire experience.
After working for Continental Coffee Company, Sysco Foods and Milani Foods, Paul and Rita had a craft business for several years. Paul would cut and sand wood and learned to sew plastic canvas decorations with yarn. Rita would paint the wooden cutouts and make beautiful crafts for friends, family and church bazars. After retiring, he had a job at the Brookhaven Country Club as a golf starter.
Paul is survived by his children: Catherine of Richardson, TX; Paul and his wife Tammy of Coppell, TX Dan and his wife Karen of Richardson, TX; Theresa and her husband Don Ivey of Allen, TX; and Stephanie and her husband Kevin Fordyce of Plano, TX. He has four grandchildren and two step grandchildren: Alison and David Ivey, Payton Meister, Cecilia Meister, Michael and Anthony Kay.
He is also survived by his two brothers: George of Omaha, Nebraska and Harry and Bonnie of Scottsbluff, Nebraska and more than 14 nieces and nephews.

His mother and father, and wife Rita preceded him in death. He will be interred at St. Mark’s Catholic Church Columbarium in Plano, TX.
