Polly Ann (McCulloch) Powers was born on May 6, 1933 in Huntsville, Texas to Horace and Arbelle McCulloch. She attended schools in both Huntsville and Lufkin Texas. She was united in marriage to Bobby Mack Powers Sr. on December 23, 1954 in Huntsville. They were married for almost 64 years. Polly received her Bachelor degree in English from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville. She and Bob moved to Plano in 1969 and there she worked as a substitute teacher in the Plano Independent School District and for The Geomap Company in Plano. Polly was active in her church; The First United Methodist in Plano, where she taught Sunday School but her real passion was being a full time mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

One of Polly’s favorite pastimes was keeping in touch with her family and friends. She would do this either by sending handwritten letters or handmade greeting cards that she would personally create. Polly enjoyed life and was a blessing to all of those who knew her.

Polly is survived by her husband Bob, by her children and their spouses Pam Sheridan (Guy) of Plano and Mack Powers (Holly) of Dallas. Also surviving her are eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers Horace McCulloch and Albert McCulloch and by her sister Gertrude Corson.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials may be made to Vitas Hospice or The Sam Houston State University Alumni Association.

A memorial service to celebrate Polly’s life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday December 20th at Grace Bible Church, which is located at 11306 Inwood Road, Dallas, Texas 75229. A reception will follow in the church commons. Mrs. Powers went to be with her Lord on Tuesday December 12, 2017.

We were so sorry to hear about Polly. We lived very close to Polly and Bob for twenty years, our sons grew up together playing sports in our backyards. Great memories. Polly was such a sweet & special person. She is with God now.

When I got your call, Mac, I feared it was not good news. My deepest sympathies go out to you all. Polly was my boss/friend at Geomap. Many fun and happy times with her. She was there for me when my husband passed suddenly, calling, checking on me. A very special lady! As I scanned through her pictures I smiled at the ones I remembered how she looked last time I saw her, but broke my heart as I realized she was ill. May God comfort you all, thoughts and prayers

I missed your call tonight, Mac, but knew something had happened to your mother. She was a special person, got me through some tough days when my husband suddenly passed away. Remembering many fun times we had when I worked with her at Geomap. She was my boss but more importantly, my friend. My deepest sympathies go out to her family. I know too I will see her again one day. God bless you all.

I was so sorry to hear about Polly. We had so many good times when we lived next door to you. Polly was there when I lost Walter and Deborah and I wish I could be there for you but I just got out of the hospital. My love and prayers are for all of you. Love, Barbara Allen

Like her mother Arbelle, Polly Ann was caring, thoughtful of others. She loved much. I wish she could have stayed here, but she will be good for others where she has gone.

Polly was the BEST neighbor anyone could have. We lived behind each other since 1973. A listening ear, a helping hand, always ready and willing to be there for you. Polly was a true Woman of God and an example for all she met. It was a priviledge to have known her and am delighted that someday I will join her in heaven for eternity.

So sad to hear about Polly Ann. One of my many cousins that I didn't see very often but have very fond memories going a long way back. Jim, son of Allen Smith
