Rachel Colleen Phillips, age 37, passed away on May 1, 2025, in Dallas, Texas from cardiac arrest. Rachel was born on September 9, 1987, in Lubbock. Two weeks later she became part of the family of Richard and Colleen Reinsch Phillips through the services of Smithlawn Home and Adoption Agency. Her parents and two brothers traveled from Tulsa, Oklahoma to Lubbock to meet her and bring her home.
Rachel lived with her parents her entire life and currently resided in Carrollton. She received her high school diploma in 2006.
She was preceded in death by her devoted grandparents Joe and Frances Phillips and Nelson and Ruth Colleen Reinsch, all of Lubbock.
In addition to her parents, Rachel is survived by her brother Tobe and wife Lynley Phillips of Grapevine; her brother Erik and wife Tiffani Phillips of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her nieces Isabelle, Lydia, Evelyn, Alexis and Emaleen; nephews Jameson, Isaac and Gabriel; and cousins, aunts and uncles who all loved her as she loved them.
Rachel had a tender heart, was easily touched by other’s distress, and was a loyal friend. Her beautiful blue eyes, sweet smile and quick laugh will be remembered by all who knew her.
Her love of animals was a life-long passion. She loved any animal she saw and especially dogs. When the family would move to a new neighborhood, Rachel immediately met all the other children on the block and, more importantly to her, met their pets.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at The Branch Church (formerly Farmers Branch Church of Christ) at 3035 Valley View Ln, Farmers Branch, Texas at 2:00 p.m. A time for visitation will follow the service.
Rachel’s ashes will be buried in the family’s section of Resthaven Cemetery in Lubbock at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Smithlawn Home, PO Box 6451, Lubbock TX; Operation Kindness Animal Rescue, 3201 Earhart Dr., Carrollton TX; or Children’s Home of Lubbock, PO Box 2824, Lubbock TX.
