

She was born on December 18, 1941 in New Orleans, Louisiana to parents Louis and Elmeda Harris.
Rawin is survived by her four children, Bobby, daughter in law Elsa, Rhett, daughter in law Lisa, Shawn, daughter in law Martha, Shareen, son in law Ben and seven grandchildren, Danielle, Nathan, Jacob, Alexander, Carson, Cristina and Nicholas.
At age 13, Rawin was crowned Mardi Gras queen in New Orleans, an honor she and her family were proud of.
In 1960 she graduated from East Jefferson High school, and in 1961 married Maxie James and they settled in Biloxi, Mississippi for the next 6 years. During that time she became a dedicated and loving mother to three boys and one girl. With her husband employed in the oil industry she moved her four children around the world several times, with the longest stay being in Aberdeen, Scotland where she made a wonderful home for her family. After many years in Scotland she finally settled her roots in Houston, TX.
Rawin was a faithful parishioner of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic church where she was a beloved member for almost 30 years. She was a successful speaker and a longtime member of toastmasters where she won many awards for her motivational speeches. She could make you laugh, cry and rethink your future for the better in a 20 minute speech. She has always had an entrepreneurial spirit and owned several successful businesses throughout her life. She carried that determination with her through chronic illness which never took the best of her. Rawin, aka Granny loved all her grandchildren beyond measure and will be missed by all of them.
Rawin was always a talker and never met a stranger, she touched everyone she met with profound kindness and love and left a legacy that will carry on through her children, grandchildren and everyone she loved.
Private family services will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Plano, Texas.
