

Richard "Rick" Stephen Gomez, a man whose vibrant personality and generous heart left an unforgettable mark on everyone he met, passed away on July 8, 2026, in Irving, Texas, just a week shy of his 40th birthday.
Born on July 16, 1986, in Denton, Texas, Rick grew up with a passion for life that defined everything he did. He graduated from Community High School in Nevada, Texas, and went on to live a life full of diverse achievements and deep connections. Rick was a force to be reckoned with, channeling his drive into becoming a professional MMA fighter in Texas. He was also an enterprising business owner, founding and operating The Right Guy Glass and Screen, and formerly owning The Boot Reserve in Nevada, Texas.
Beyond his professional success, Rick was truly the life of the party. With his massive personality, booming energy, and unmatched generosity, he drew people to him and built countless lasting friendships. He loved nothing more than hanging out with his friends, casting a line while fishing, and firing up the grill—where his specialty steaks were always a crowd-pleaser. Rick also had a deep passion for raising American Bullies, successfully producing prize-winning dogs.
Rick is survived by his loving family, including his father, Richard Gomez, and his wife Cindy of Prosper, Texas; his mother, Donna Jean Gomez, and her husband Felix of Sun City, California; and his former wife, Elizabeth Gomez, alongside stepdaughter Hollie and grandson Roman.
He is also survived by his beloved sister, Brandi Shelton, and her husband Chris of Allen, Texas; his nieces, Kimberlee Justice, Aribella, Lauren, and Marissa Shelton; his nephews, Dakota Justice, Eddie Lewis, and Cade Shelton; and a large, loving extended family of numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Rick was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ruth and Arthur Gomez; Leo and Norma Ghan as well as uncles Buddy, Larry and Jack Ghan and aunt Nancy Perez.
Rick lived life to the absolute fullest. He was loved by so many, and his presence, warmth, and laughter will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
