Hoffmann, Richard Eugene. Born on November 24, 1954 and passed away September 14, 2018 in Dallas, Texas from pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Lynn Maynard Hoffmann; his mother, Jane; his siblings Ann and Steve; his children, John, Kim, Ryan, Lauren and Zach; and his grandchildren Cosette, Pierce and Leigh.
Richard was raised in Glen Ellyn, Illinois and Dallas, Texas and lived in Chicago before settling permanently in Dallas. He graduated with a degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Tulane University in 1977 and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas in 1979. Richard earned his Certified Public Accountant license while working for Price Waterhouse in Chicago. Richard and Lynn co-founded Anterra Realty Corporation in 1989 in Dallas, Texas. They leave behind a very successful company that provides a full range of multifamily services including property management, acquisition services, repositioning and construction management.
Since childhood, Richard spent a portion of his summer each year at Buena Vista on Geneva Lake, Fontana, Wisconsin. He loved the lake, the creek and most of all the people of the park who always stopped by the front porch for drink and good conversation.
Richard was an active member of Northwest Bible Church for over two decades. He held many roles over the years but his most impactful one was with the Recovery for Life ministry. Richard and Lynn, along with other members of the church who have also led this program, helped scores of people overcome seemingly insurmountable problems. Richard also had a deep passion for personally mentoring men in his community. Above all else, he wanted to be known as a man who cared about people. Church and service to others were a very important part of Richard’s life, always with God at the center of whatever he did.
A memorial service will be held at Northwest Bible Church, Dallas, Texas on Tuesday, September 18 at 11 AM with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northwest Bible Church for the benefit of the Recovery for Life ministry.
