Dick began his leadership skills at South High School in Denver where he was student body president and Hi Y state president. He earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Business and in Fine Arts from The University of Colorado. Later, he was also a graduate of the SMU School of Banking.
Dick had many different talents and interests with a passion for starting businesses and developing projects. He loved to help others and never met a stranger. His career included business development at Republic National Bank, Manager of Aerodrome Airpark, Real Estate Developer, and President of Green Valley Nurseries, Inc. Dick loved his country and was honored to serve in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Dick served the Dallas community through the Salesmanship Club of Dallas, The Board of Directors of Girl Scouts of America, a volunteer for The American Red Cross Disaster Service, and president of United Cerebral Palsy of Dallas.
In retirement Dick loved flowers and a beautiful yard. He liked photography and traveling to many places of interest. He especially loved to spend many hours making wooden models from kits. Dick will be remembered for his positive attitude, his love for God, and love he had of his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was thankful for wonderful friends he met through his class at Prestonwood Baptist Church. He wanted to be able to help people and encourage others to “Pass It On”.
