Beloved husband, father, granddad, great granddad, brother, Richard (Dick), 87, of Plano TX passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 7, 2025. He was born on September 18, 1937 in Houston, TX. Richard graduated from Oklahoma University, which set him on a career path as a geologist. He loved every minute of finding oil and gas in Texas, Oklahoma, and Colorado. He was handsome (even when he came home scruffy after sitting on a well), smart, successful, gregarious, and well respected. He had a great sense of humor and was a wonderful family man.
He spent 20 years of his career in Denver, where he made many life-long friends and enjoyed golfing, skiing and sailing with family and friends.
He will be profoundly missed by family and friends. Richard is survived by Dot, college sweetheart and wife of over 66 years, son Craig (Brenton), daughter Stacey Hedrington (Matt), Granddaughters Savannah Van Buskirk and Ashley Rutherford (T.J.), great grandchildren Collin and Alanna Rutherford, brother Jim, and cousins.
A memorial service for Dick is planned for Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home.
