He was born on April 9, 1935, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Leroy & Marion (Barr) Seba. Richard spent his childhood in Ohio until he moved to Anna Maria Island, Florida as a teenager with his family. He was a 1953 graduate of Manatee High School. Following high school, Richard went to Florida Southern University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business before entering the service. He proudly served our country in the United States Army as a 1st Lieutenant of Transportation Corps in Korea. Upon returning from the service, Richard met his first wife, Jackie, and they soon married and quickly became a family of five.
Richard spent his career as an accountant, starting at Honeywell and eventually was recruited by Texas Instruments, from where he retired in 2000. Following retirement, he continued to work as an accountant at Texas Workforce for six years.
Enjoying life to its fullest was how Richard spent his days. He enjoyed traveling throughout his life, as he took his family on many trips – his children when they were young and his grandchildren when they came along. He especially enjoyed visiting Colorado and relishing all of its beauty. His trips were more about the journey, not the destination, as he enjoyed stopping at landmarks and other known attractions along the way. Richard loved attending musicals and was the ultimate storyteller. His sense of humor and comedic personality radiated through his stories told and the life he lived. He had a love for people and loved making people laugh. Sharing the joy with others that he found in each new day was something that came natural to him.
Richard was a selfless person and would do anything for anyone. He spent several years volunteering for Meals on Wheels. His faith was important to him, and he was a member Lovers Lane, Stonebridge, and Christ United Methodist Churches over the years. It was at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church where he met his soulmate, Judith, whom he married in 1988. Their time together was cherished and precious as they knew they truly belonged together. They eventually moved to Highland Springs, where they remained active and made new friends in their retirement. Again, living life to its fullest each day was a priority for Richard up until the end. Richard’s life was well-lived and well-loved and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Seba, in 2015. He is survived by his children, Cynthia Seba of Fort Worth, Don (Elizabeth) Seba of Allen, and Rick (Laurie) Seba of Mansfield; stepchildren, Rob Glenn of Lake Dallas, Cindy (Keith) Webb of Plano, Rick (Tracey) Glenn of McKinney, and Sandy (John) Jacobs of Frisco; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and brother, Doug (Lisa) Seba of Key West, FL.
