Passed away on July 22, 2015. He was born on May 9, 1941 to Dwight and Anne Smith. Dick is survived by his son, Geoffrey Smith and wife Molly; daughter, Allison Carr and husband Stephen; grandsons, Grayson & Graham Smith, and Henry Carr; brother, Dwight “Butch” Smith and wife Bonnie; nieces, Liz Grote and husband Fred, Sarah Duffin and husband Richie; nephews, Russ Smith, John Holbrook and Steven Holbrook; and a host of other family and friends. A graduate of North Texas State University and St. Mary’s School of Law, Dick served as general counsel for IPR for many years and also taught real estate law in the area. He was an avid golfer, a lover of history, and although born in Louisiana, a proud Texan at heart. Dick spent many weekends with his Kappa Alpha brothers to which he remained close throughout his life. He is preceded in death by his sister Nancy Holbrook and both of his parents. A memorial service for Dick will be on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, donation in honor of Dick can be made to PBS.
