Robert Warren Bartlett Sr., affectionately known as Bob by friends and Pops by his children, of Richardson, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 12, 2025. Born in Chicago, Illinois, to James and Eva Bartlett, Bob carried the spirit of his hometown with him throughout his life—especially in his unwavering devotion to the Chicago Cubs.
Bob built a proud career in the food industry, first working for the National Tea Company for 19 years as a meat market manager in the Chicago area and then Vienna Beef for 28 years as a branch sales & operations manager in various North America locations, where his dedication and work ethic left a lasting impression and earned him numerous recognitions. On April 1, 1988, he married the love of his life, Betty Johnson, with whom he shared many cherished years until her passing in December 2024.
Bob was a man of deep spiritual and family values and is remembered for his warmth, humor, and love of baseball. He easily made friends with acquaintances and neighbors. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Betty, who he dearly missed, and his sister, Lynn McKinney.
He is survived by his children, Bob Bartlett Jr. (Tammi), Pamela Pruett (Gary), Cynthia Talley (Randy) and Betty’s children, Christina Lawhead (Russ) and Mike Johnson (Lisa); thirteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Bob will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for the joy he brought to others and the life he lived with integrity, love and compassion. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
