

Robert Edward Northam of Plano, TX, formerly of North Bellmore, NY passed away on August 23, 2011. He was born in Andover, MA on May 15, 1930 to Jean Leslie and Edgar Northam. He graduated from Punchard High School, Andover, MA, Class of 1948; served in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Princeton from 1948 to 1952; and graduated with honor from Northeastern University, Class of 1956. Shortly thereafter, he earned his CPA and joined the Accounting Firm of Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Company where he rose to the position of Partner. He joined the JCPenney Company in 1974 as Vice President, Controller and later became Chief Financial Officer before his retirement in 1996. He was on the Board of Directors of AK Steel in West Chester, OH.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Barbara Ann Derby Northam; children, Steven William Northam and wife, Jane of Fallbrook, CA; Robert Brian Northam and wife, Donna of Plano, TX; Susan Northam and fiancé, Phillip Kisamore of Wylie, TX; Nancy Ellen Northam Leibundgut and husband, Eric of Manlius, NY; grandchildren, Monica Baumann and husband, Dave of Temecula, CA; Holly Estrada and husband, Alan of San Diego; Sarah Isaac of Escondido, CA; Craig Northam and wife, Pamela of Port Orchard, WA; Torie Northam Smith and husband, Aaron of The Colony, TX; Brandon Dotson of Wylie, TX; Ryan Robert Leibundgut, William Albert Leibundgut and Nicole Susan Leibundgut, all of Manlius, NY; great-grandchildren, Aujane Lane and Akeelah Isaac of Escondido, CA, Brayden Robert Smith of The Colony, TX. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley Ann Northam Martinson of Ocala, FL, sister-in-law, Sandra Derby Marsolini of Hampton Beach NH, and Port Charlotte, FL, and sister-in-law Nell Northam of Napa, CA.
While working a summer job in college, he met Barbara at Hampton Beach, NH. After their marriage on February 20, 1954, they enjoyed returning to Hampton Beach each summer while raising their family. After retirement, he spent winters at his golfing home in Port Charlotte, FL. Bob was an avid reader and loved sports. His move to Texas in 1988 inspired him to root for the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, Dallas Stars and Dallas Mavericks. He loved working around his home and spending time with family. He was a man of strength, loyalty, intelligence, humor, dedication, work ethic and integrity and will be dearly missed by friends and family.
Visiting hours will be held Monday, August 29 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM and a service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, August 30 at 10:00 AM at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, 8011 Frankfort Road, Dallas, TX 75252. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Plus, 3100 McKinnon Road, Suite 200, Dallas, TX 75201 or a charity of your choice.
