Rosalie Theresa (Osborn) Getz, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at the age of 81. She was born in Electra, Texas on January 30, 1939. Preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Rose Osborn and her sister, Helen Lenore Lott. She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, John Henry Getz III and daughters, Karen M. Rhodes-Whitley, her husband David Whitley, Patricia D. Hawkins, husband Kenneth M. Hawkins and Cynthia A. Dimidik, and her husband Andrew Dimidik. She is also survived by her sister, Florence Fay Osborn and brother, John James Osborn. She was a devoted grandmother of 8 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosalie graduated high school as the valedictorian from Our Lady of Good Counsel and finished her nursing degree at St. Paul’s University. While she always had wanted to become a pilot and often mentioned this throughout her life, she decided on nursing instead. She was a registered nurse for 45 years and ended her career at Carrolton-Farmers Branch Independent School District after retiring from Texas Instruments.
Rosalie had many friends and family who adored her. She was known for her incredibly kind spirit and her quick wit. Rosalie and her husband John loved to entertain and were known for the fabulous Christmas parties which were the event of the year! They loved to travel with family and friends, especially their grandchildren. She will be remembered fondly by all who had the opportunity to meet her and experience her generous heart.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 27, 2020 from 3 pm to 6 pm at the Ted Dickey West Funeral Home on 7990 President George Bush Turnpike, Dallas, TX. 75252. Funeral services will be held at 10am Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Calvary Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery 3235 Lombardy Ln, Dallas 75220 with a mass at the North Chapel and grave site service after. All COVID-19 Protocols will be followed. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed. Please contact the family members for the livestream information. The family would like to express their thanks for the wonderful help and care given by the Provista Hospice Services and the staff at Anthology of Stonebridge Ranch.
