

Roy Serpa, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and esteemed business leader, passed away on January 30, 2025. Born on August 23, 1935, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, he was the son of Manuel and Rose Netto Serpa.
He proudly served as a First Lieutenant in the United States National Guard from 1953 to 1962. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Massachusetts University in 1957 and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh in 1975.
His professional journey spanned over four impactful decades. He began his career as a sales representative for Amoco Chemical Corporation in Chicago (1957-1962) before advancing to managerial roles at Mobay Chemical Company in Pittsburgh (1962-1977). His expertise led him to Gulf Oil Chemical Company in Houston (1977-1985), Borg Warner Chemical Company in Parkersburg, West Virginia (1985-1987), and Instamelt Systems Inc. in Midland, Texas, where he served as President and CEO (1987-1992). He also played a pivotal role as President of EnviroGuard, Inc. in Houston and was a valued advisory board member for the Small Business Development Center in Houston.
Beyond his corporate achievements, Roy was an influential voice in business ethics and corporate culture. He shared his knowledge as a Visiting Lecturer at Texas A&M University and the University of Houston. He contributed insightful publications, including "Culture - The Often Ignored Factor in Knowledge Utilization," "Performance Appraisal - An Ethical Issue," and "Creating a Candid Corporate Culture."
He embraced change and growth throughout his career, transitioning through eight different roles over 44 years. Each move was a stepping stone, enriching his understanding of new cultures, technologies, and professional networks. He thrived on challenges and left a lasting legacy of leadership and innovation.
Above all, Roy treasured his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Diana Serpa; his sons, Roy, John, and Manuel Serpa; his sister, Cynthia Dupont; and his grandchildren, Sydney, Blake, Daniel, and Jake Serpa. His wisdom and unwavering dedication to his family and professional life will be deeply missed.
Roy Serpa’s life was one of purpose, integrity, and faith. His contributions to his field and his love for his family will be remembered for generations.
A funeral service for Roy will be held Monday, February 10, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, 7990 President George Bush, Dallas, TX 75252. Following the funeral service will be a burial committal from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Ridgeview West Memorial Park, 7800 Sanctuary Dr, Frisco, TX 75033.
