

Samuel Rogers Boykin was born on July 19, 1942 in Statesville, North Carolina to Ruth and Herbert Boykin. Sam passed away in the comfort his home in Dallas, Texas on Thursday October 27, 2022. He grew up in St. Charles, South Carolina, graduated high school, and enlisted in the United States Air Force serving from 1960 to 1963. He attended Clemson University from 1967 to 1971 earning a bachelor’s in economics. He remained an active alum and an avid Clemson football fan.
Sam was a loving husband and father leaving behind his wife and best friend of 50 years, Helen, his children Sierra, Adam, and Mike, three grandchildren Michael Anthony, Jack, and Garret. He also leaves six brothers David, Bob, Roy, Jerry, Pat, and Tim.
Sam was a good and honorable man, always teaching those around him by his example. He was a spiritual man and loved the Lord with all his heart. He was a devoted member of Prestonwood Baptist Church where he met many friends in Jesus.
On November 16, 2022 a private family gathering will be held to lay Sam to rest at DFW National Cemetery. The family suggests that memorials be made to Prestonwood Pregnancy Center, https://raisedonors.com/pwpc/genc0000, or the Wounded Warrior Project.
