April 12, 1967 – June 11, 2026
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Scot David Florsheim, who died on June 11, 2026, at his home in Plano, Texas, surrounded by family, after a short battle with cancer.
Scot was a devoted husband, loving father, and beloved friend. Scot was born on April 12, 1967, in El Paso, Texas, and spent most of his life in Plano, Texas.
He graduated from the University of Texas in 1993. While in college, Scot met the love of his life, Melanie, and they married in 1995. He spent nearly two decades working for GE before he built a career as a commercial real estate developer in Texas.
Above all, Scot adored being a father to his three children, Jonathan, Jacob, and Jessica. Scot delighted in taking care of them, being the protector who “always saved the day” and whose “love was a healing balm.” A man of integrity and humility, Scot was a peacemaker who made everyone feel loved.
Scot enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and golf, but those were simply avenues for his real favorite activity: spending time with the friends and family whom he loved dearly. His annual father-son dove hunt has become a treasured memory for many, where Scot created a place for men to connect and enjoy deep friendship. He loved hosting and opening his home to all and enjoyed smoking a brisket all night for a feast around the table with friends.
Scot’s love for Jesus was central to his marriage, family, and life. He lived out his faith through leading Bible studies, hosting small groups, and connecting with Christ-centered community.
He is survived by his parents, Judy and Bob Florsheim, and his siblings and their spouses, Steven Florsheim (Becky), Gay Campbell (Patrick), Diane Ostrander (Ron) and Michael Florsheim (Patricia). His legacy of genuine love and compassion is carried on by his wife, Melanie, his children, Jonathan, Jacob (Emily), and Jessica, as well as two grandchildren, Elijah Scot and Aaron Jay. He is dearly loved by many nieces and nephews, and will be especially missed by his furry friend, Charlie.
Memorial services to celebrate Scot’s life will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Northwest Bible Church (8505 Douglas Ave, Dallas, TX 75225).
In lieu of flowers, we hope you will emulate Scot’s generous spirit through a donation in Scot’s name to any of the following organizations: Primemovers, Northwest Bible Church, or, the American Cancer Society. Links may be found below for each.
