

Shirley was born on January 24th, 1936 in Dallas, TX to B.K. and Wilma Rowan. She was the oldest of two girls. She attended Crozier Technical High School in Dallas, TX where she began her early business as a Cosmetologist.
She married her long time love Weldon Selman in April of 1952 at the age of 16. They started their life together living in North Carolina and California while Weldon was in the Marine Corp. They moved to Texas where they would soon start a family of two daughters, Sharon and Jennifer. Shirley and Weldon resided in Farmersville and Rockwall before settling at their home in Garland, TX in 1980. Shirley had an adventurous and entrepreneurial spirit. She worked for an attorney on & off for about 25 years and was involved in numerous multi marketing companies over the years. Shirley loved to travel and entertain family and friends, hosting holidays and parties. She was married to Weldon for 64 years when he passed away.
Shirley later met her husband Clifton Kees through a blind date introduction by her best friend Donna Austin. They were married on June 15, 2019 and she was thrilled that she was gaining a wonderful extended family. They enjoyed traveling and seeing the sights on adventures together. Cliff enjoyed spoiling Shirley and taking care of her. He was by her side on her last days before she passed.
She was preceded in death by her parents B.K. and Wilma Rowan, her sister Jimminell Winkle, first husband Weldon Selman, her two daughters Sharon Fox and Jennifer Keating. She is survived by her devoted husband Clifton Kees, Granddaughter Amanda Crump and husband Chuck, and Great-Grandson Jaden Crump. Among those who were like precious family to Shirley are Andy and Lisa Rangel, Walter Selman - her beloved Nephew, John Keating, Shirley Darnell, and many others.
Shirley’s Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 28th, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Monica Park Christian Church located at 2600 Broadway Blvd., Garland, TX 75041.
